Being closer to home, I often get the opportunity to take city breaks in Europe. Read about some of the places I’ve visited.

Bavaria
“After strolling down the high street from Karlsplatz, we found ourselves in Marienplatz, home of the Rethhaus or Townhall. This square is famous for its Glockenspiel Clock which chimes at certain times throughout the day. We arrived just in time to see its last display of the day...”
In Munich for a concert we spent our time sightseeing in the city as well as taking day trips out to see some Bavarian Castles and to Salzburg in Austria.

Visiting the Czech capital for a concert, we packed in as much sightseeing as possible to our long weekend. Read about my trip to Prague here.

“In the afternoon, we… headed for the walled city of Mdina. Here, as well as exploring the city and enjoying beautiful views from the city walls, we visited the popular Fontanella Tea Gardens where we we indulged in a slice of one of the most delicious chocolate cakes I have ever tasted…”
Taking a Spring break to the island of Malta, we explored as much of the island as we could as well as taking a trip over to Gozo and Camino. Read about my trip here.
Copenhagen
“After our canal tour, we walked to the first of many palaces to explore in the city, Christiansborg Palace…It was free to go up the Palace Tower to enjoy beautiful views across the city…”
A busy few days of sightseeing in Denmark’s capital on a midweek budget break. Find out what we got up to and how we kept costs down, here.

Dublin
“On my first trip to the city, seeing as many sights as we could was the main priority…we started with the famous Guinness Factory...The highlight though, came right at the end with a visit to the Gravity Bar, a bar on top of the Storehouse which offers views across the capital.”
My tips for a visit to Dublin, one of my favourite European capitals.

Cote d’Azur
I was lucky enough to win a 5* weekend break in the South of France. Staying in Cannes, I squeezed in visits to the neighbouring coastal towns and cities of Antibes, Nice and Monaco.
